A two-fold problematic
First, it’s the structure of dissemination that enables (in the sense of addiction) so many people to remain unaware of world level events despite great newsreporting and journalism.
Second, the patterns of people’s reactions are not currently parsed in meaningful ways. We need better curation of social media at the tech level to facilitate more nuanced readings from everyone.
Intertwined with these two problems is a lack of sophistication understanding and working with people’s initial affective responses. It’s a group-level task to learn how best to manage valence and curation.
